Welcome to the first ever Competition Automotive Group Newsletter!

Competition Auto Group Celebrates 60 Years

In 1962, Competition Automotive Group was launched. It’s inception began when Smithtown native and Championship Race Car Driver, Joe Buzzetta Sr. and racing mechanic, Oscar Rubio, started selling and repairing cars at Competition Engineering in Smithtown.

It’s been quite an amazing journey since then.

Auto Tech Career Fair with GNYADA

Over the summer, the Competition Auto Group participated in the Auto Tech Career Fair with GNYADA, at Lincoln Technical Institute, a trade school for Automotive Education.

This event was a great way for future technicians to see what the automotive world has to offer them in the time ahead. It was such a wonderful experience to see our next generation of technicians!

Alternatives For Children Annual Classic
and Sports Car Rally

Alternatives for Children is an organization very near and dear to the owning and operating family, the Buzzetta’s, hearts. AFC is a non-profit private school that provides a nurturing environment for children with special needs.

This year marked their 25th Annual Car Rally, which directly benefited the programs and services for the children with disabilities that the group serves. We were so honored to have been a repeat sponsor for the event this year!

Company Picnic at Smithtown
Historical Society

Nearing the end of September, the Competition Automotive group partook in a group-wide picnic at the Smithtown Historical Society. This wonderful event organized by our HR Department consisted of:

Eating some delicious BBQ and Soft Serve
Feeding the adorable animals
Playing competitive games against each of our fellow dealerships
Face painting
and so much more!

It was so wonderful being able to have some good old fashioned fun with the team! Congratulations to Competition Subaru of Smithtown for taking home the title of winners of the day with the most points won!

Pink with a Cause!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Competition Automotive Group has been proud to show our support for a cause that affects many. Our employees across all five of our stores were honored to wear pink throughout the month, as well as their ribbons of hope. Not only were the employees decked out in pink ribbons, but our vehicles have been too!

We were also so grateful to be able to contribute to the World of Pink Foundation’s 6th Annual Survivor Fashion Show!

The Competition Automotive Group
is Electric!

Competition Automotive Group is eager to announce available stock in the most futuristic and eco-friendly vehicles on the market from Mercedes-EQ and BMW USA. Introducing the Mercedes-EQ EQS Sedan and SUV, and Mercedes-EQ EQB, as well as the 2023 BMW iX! Production for these electric vehicles have stepped into the delivery phase and we are so excited to bring these charged-up EVS to our amazing customers!

We are so excited to offer these eco-friendly vehicles! We know our customers will love these vehicles as much as these vehicles love the earth!

Competition BMW of Smithtown is currently hosting the absolutely stunning 2023 BMW iX xDrive50!

This midsize Sports Activity Vehicle has a distance range of up to 324 miles, and can go 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds!

Mercedes-Benz of Huntington and Mercedes-Benz of Smithtown is ecstatic to present the 2022 Mercedes-EQ EQB 300, the 2023 Mercedes-EQ EQS 580 Sedan and the 2023 Mercedes-EQ EQS 450 Sedan, as well as their SUV counterparts, the Mercedes-EQ EQS 580 SUV, and the Mercedes-EQ EQS 450 SUV to our eco-conscious and amazing customers!

The Mercedes-EQ EQS 450 Sedan has an electric range of 470 miles and can go 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds.

The Mercedes-EQ EQS 580 Sedan has an electric range of 470 miles and can go 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds.

The Mercedes-EQ EQB SUV has an electric range of 243 miles and can go 0-60 mph in 7 seconds.

The Mercedes-EQ EQS 450 SUV has an electric range of 305 miles and can go from 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds.

The Mercedes-EQ EQS 580 SUV has an electric range of 305 miles and can go from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz of Huntington had an awesome time getting to know the community these past few months through various events! Here are some of our favorite highlights.

Cars and Coffee 2022

Mercedes-Benz of Huntington started the fall off with a bang! The countdown finally led way to their biggest event of the year: CARS AND COFFEE!

The annual car show took place on October 9th, 2022, and we could not have expected a better turnout! Every kind of car imaginable was present and it was truly such a beautiful day! As the name suggests, the day was filled with plenty of coffee, bagels, muffins, pastries, and CARS of course!

We would like to extend a huge thank you to anyone who came to our event, as well as our various contributors such as AUTOBOXX INC, Specialty Sweets LI, and No Good Burger Truck! We had so much fun enjoying the day with our friends and family! We can’t wait to see everyone again next year!

MBH at Local Festivals

As sponsors of both the Huntington Chamber of Commerce, and East Northport Chamber of Commerce, Mercedes-Benz of Huntington was so honored to have a tent at two festivals this year! We had so much fun engaging with our community at the Long Island Fall Festival at Heckscher Park, as well as the East Northport Festival. Our EQS sedan was displayed at the East Northport Festival, while the EQB SUV, and GLC 300 SUV, were shown at the Long Island Fall festival. All three were such a hit!

The third quarter of 2022 was a superb time for Competition Subaru of Smithtown! We found ourselves digging our roots even deeper into the local Long Island community! The entire auto group is proud to be able to extend our philanthropic limbs in as many genres and towns as we possibly can!

Subaru Loves Learning Month

August was eventful as ever, kicking off with Subaru Loves Learning month! Through AdoptaClassroom.org, we teamed up with Anthony Alfano Elementary School this year to raise funds, supplies and support for local teachers and students. Nationwide, millions of students lack the supplies and the learning materials that are necessary to be successful in the classroom. 92% of classrooms have students whose families cannot afford to purchase any school supplies for their children, teachers must then purchase resources using their own money.

Through this collaboration, Competition Subaru and other Subaru retailers supported more than 300,000 students nationwide! Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by our showroom to donate or share their kind words and gratitude!

Subaru WRX STI Rallycross Car Show

On August 12th of 2022, Competition Subaru hosted our second annual Subaru WRX STI Rallycross Car Show! This event was free to the public and we were able to showcase Travis Pastrana’s WRX STI Rallycross car! Along with Travis’ infamous Subaru, we had equally cool vehicles on display brought by you guys, the local Long Island Community! We also had giveaways, refreshments, free t-shirts and lanyards and an incredible time with everyone in attendance!

Pet Adoption Event and Food Drive

In September, Competition Subaru had a successful Pet Adoption event and Food Drive with Bethpage Credit Union. This wholesome and wonderful event took place on September 17th and helped emphasize the importance of aiding any in need.

One Tree Planted

With Competition Subaru of Smithtown, supporting those in need extends from wildlife to woodlands! Subaru is proud to continue to team up with One Tree Planted throughout each quarter of each year. One Tree Planted is a non-profit environmental charity with a focus on global reforestation. With their help, every time a customer purchases or leases a vehicle through Competition Subaru, we plant a tree as a way to help preserve and thank our Earth! As of Q3 in 2022, Competition Subaru and One Tree Planted have planted over 3,000 trees in the most needed areas of America!

The past quarter for Mercedes-Benz of Smithtown was one for the books! We are so proud to have contributed to both the earth, and our community these past few months!

Edition Arrives at MBS

Solar Energy at MBS

At Competition Auto Group we pride ourselves on doing our best to be eco-friendly. Over the course of the past ten months, Mercedes-Benz of Smithtown has generated over 250 MWh of solar power/energy. Environmentally, this means that we have saved an estimated amount of 936k LBS of CO2 Emission, and an equivalent to 7,076 trees planted since the inception of solar panels at our dealership. We are so proud to be making a difference with the actions that we take across all of our stores!

William J. Pace Golf Outing

Angela’s House is an organization that assists families caring for medically frail children living at home with their parents, or in special homes.

Mercedes-Benz of Smithtown is so proud to have sponsored the Hole In One Vehicle: a 24 month lease of a 2022 GLC 300, for the Golf Outing held at Nissequogue Golf Club. This outing was held to fundraise money for Angela’s House to provide Everyday Wishes.
Everyday Wishes Include:

Medical supplies
Therapeutic equipment
Assistive technology
Home modifications
Counseling
& many other resources.

We are so proud to give back to our community in a way that improves the quality of life for others.

Competition BMW of Smithtown was kept very busy during the third quarter of 2022 and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

The 2023 BMW X7

The new 2023 BMW X7 has arrived at Competition BMW of Smithtown! This news is as big as this BMW SAV! The 2023 BMW X7 was released with two models:

The 2023 BMW X7 xDrive40i
The 2023 BMW X7 M60i

Both vehicles come with xDrive and all-wheel drive. The BMW X7 xDrive40i contains a 3 liter, 6 cylinder twinpower turbo engine, the BMW X7 M60i delivers a 4.4 liter BMW M twinpower turbo engine.

There is new and innovative BMW iX technology being showcased in the 2023 BMW X7: the new (and standard!) BMW curved display, the iDrive 8 Operating System, and a customizable home screen! With the standard panoramic glass roof, luxury got leveled up to even higher standards!

The Port Jefferson Dragon Boat Race

Competition BMW had the honor of showing off two new BMW vehicles, the BMW X7 and the BMW M3 Competition, at Port Jefferson’s 8th Annual Dragon Boat Race Festival on September 19th! It was such a wonderful time seeing everyone enjoy the beautiful weather on the Port Jefferson Harbor while watching the local and regional teams come together to race with and against each other.

Everyone in attendance also got a special look inside our welcoming BMW X7 M50 and BMW M3 Competition! We cannot thank our product specialists enough for all of their informative assistance! It was an absolute pleasure to sponsor the 2022 Dragon Boat Race Festival in Port Jefferson; Thank you to everyone who took the time to come out and spend the day with us and the dragon boats!

Announcing the BMW XM

On September 27th of 2022, BMW USA created the first “pure” BMW M since the iconic BMW M1! Competition BMW of Smithtown is excited to announce the creation of the BMW XM, the first electrified M in history!

The 2023 BMW XM is outfitted with the first ever vertical quad exhaust! The BMW XM also comes standard with the new BMW iDrive 8 Operating System. This new operating system performs perfectly on the BMW Curved Display. Additional new features also include the 3D Sculptural Headliner, 23” M Wheels, and laser-etched BMW Roundels, which are a nod of respect to the original BMW M1.

The BMW XM Label Red

After the launch of the BMW XM in the first quarter of 2023, BMW M is going to be releasing the BMW XM Label Red. This will be the second model in the XM lineup. The BMW XM Label Red will be limited edition and will only be available for a limited amount of time! Production is anticipated to begin during late Summer of 2023. As of right now, there are no details for pre-ordering this vehicle.

Competition BMW of Smithtown will announce to all of our customers, when additional information is available! We will also be posting this anticipatory news on all of our social media pages!

The third quarter of 2022 consisted of some fun events and one rather large implementation for Competition INFINITI of Smithtown!

Appreciation Picnic

Our employees had an incredible time spending time with each other at the Smithtown Historical Society on September 9th! We spent the afternoon eating amazing food catered from Up in Smoke BBQ, enjoying the petting zoo, playing Kan Jam and Cornhole, and having fun lawn games such as sponge races and tug of war! After everyone ate, we were all treated to an ice cream cone from Mister Softee! Not to brag but… Competition INFINITI was undefeated in tug of war!

Competition INFINITI celebrated winning our tug of war contest by being treated so well with bacon, egg and cheese heroes, ham, egg and cheese heroes, an assortment of bagels, fruit, pancakes, bacon, eggs, sausage patties, ham and tater tots! After having such an amazing time with everyone, it was phenomenal to take a sweet moment together to reap the efforts we all sown!

Certified Pre-Owned Program

Our dealership received exciting news in regards to our amazing Certified Pre-Owned program. INFINITI released a refreshed campaign for our already familiar Certified Pre-Owned vehicles. We have been so ecstatic to breathe a second wind into our already impressive fleet of INFINITI vehicles. The INFINITI Certified Pre-Owned Program delivers iconic Pre-Owned INFINITI vehicles to a higher standard! Our familial fleet of beastly beauties are chomping at the bit to be the newest member of your family!
