A huge thank you from Competition Subaru to everyone who joined us for our Subaru Motorsports Car Show on August 11th! We were ecstatic to welcome back Bucky Lasek, Vermont Sportscar, Subaru Motorsports USA and Terry and Yaki, a local halal food truck, serving up deliciousness and fun for the second year in a row, alongside EFI Logics and Subimods for the first time. Our community’s enthusiasm made our biggest show of the year, the biggest one yet! We are incredibly grateful for your support in making it such a success. Regina Medina - Competition Subaru's Shining Star! On July 25th, Competition Subaru is elated to announce that Regina, our esteemed Encore Delivery Specialist, has been honored with national recognition at the Subaru National Business Conference in Las Vegas as recipient of one of only SIX Subaru Love Promise Shining Star Award Recipients! Our dealership had the pleasure of surprising her with a lunch celebration with Mikaela, one of Subaru of America’s personable trainers and representatives. We couldn't be happier for her and are elated to extend a massive congratulations for her inspiring accomplishments! MBS Adoption Event with Yorkie911 Rescue and Barkfield Rd! Mercedes-Benz of Smithtown wants to extend a huge thank you to everyone who participated in and supported our first-ever Adoption Event with Yorkie 911 Rescue, on August 10th, 2024. Yorkie911 Rescue is a local nonprofit, servicing Long Island, passionate about rescuing, vetting and re-homing small-breed dogs. Hosted right here at our dealership with a tasty bagel breakfast, thank you to our dedicated employees for their excitement and continued support and to all of those who came to find a new furry friend! We’re thrilled to share that every single dog at our Adoption Event had received an application and found their forever homes! Our Second Newsletter Welcome back everyone to the second edition of the Competition Automotive Group Newsletter! We are so grateful to have the opportunity to share the various happenings around our dealerships that have occurred in the time in between the last newsletter, as well as some fun news of what is to come! We hope that you enjoy Volume 2! Honoring the Life and Legacy of Joseph C. Buzzetta, Founder of The Competition Automotive Group Joseph C. Buzzetta, 86, of Saint James NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2023. He was born December 30, 1936, in Ozone Park, New York to his parents John and Anna Buzzetta. His family moved out to Huntington New York around 1950, where he attended and graduated from Huntington High School. He later went on to meet the love of his life, Valerie, and they married in 1957. Soon after, Joe enlisted in the US Army, where he was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. Joe and Valerie’s adventure began when they bought an Austin-Healey and started participating in club racing events and tour Europe. After seeing the successful results of his competitors driving the Porsche 356, Joe and Valerie made the switch. After returning to the US at the end of his service, the racing continued for years to come. In Smithtown NY, Joe opened a repair shop alongside Oscar Rubio in 1962 called Competition Imports, where they would work during the week and go racing on weekends. Joe’s racing career took off after getting contracted to race for the factory Porsche racing team in 1964. His success continued throughout his career with the brand, where he earned a reputation for being fast, earning consistent results, and always bringing the car home in one piece. Joe’s most notable success was winning the 1967 Nürburgring 1000KM race and multiple class victories at Daytona, Sebring and other races. He raced for Porsche through 1969. After much success, he shifted his focus to growing the business and raising his family with Valerie. Joe enjoyed going into the office on a consistent basis up until his final couple of years. He enjoyed flying, boating, and travel. After many years of working in the car business, Competition Automotive Group still remains successful at the helm of his children with various franchises including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Infiniti and Subaru. He is survived by his sons Joe and Jim, his daughter Nancy, his multiple grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. One Tree Planted with a Purchase or Lease of a New Car In the first issue of our Competition Automotive Group Newsletter, we discussed the mission statement and partnership that Competition Subaru has with One Tree Planted, a non-profit environmental charity that focuses on global reforestation. Thank you so much to everyone for their continued support! Trees are utilized due to their ability to: improve physical and mental health, improve air and water quality as well as watershed health, absorb carbon, help regulate the climate and create sustenance and jobs! Trees are also utilized as shelters and help protect biodiversity. Mercedes-Benz of Smithtown was the first of our automotive group to follow suit and grow with One Tree Planted. Competition BMW, Mercedes-Benz of Huntington and Competition INFINITI are proud to foster roots and grow an unbreakable partnership with One Tree Planted as well! The Sweetbriar Nature Center focuses on aiding wildlife and encouraging public awareness. We were so fortunate to be welcomed with open arms, talons and paws! Competition Subaru was given a tour of the Sweetbriar Nature Preserve and explored the wonderful amenities offered to their permanent and non-permanent wildlife residents. From exploring the Butterfly Vivarium before it was open to the public for the summer or taking a tour of some of the 54 acres available for all creatures, it was a genuine treat! Seeing the variety of wildlife and habitats as well as experiencing informative rooms like the Reptile Room and the Rainforest Room, was inspiring, adorable and educational for everyone involved, across all ages! Every element of our tour was punctuated with personal anecdotes, fun facts and instructions on suggested rescue methods (if any!). Some animals simply need to be left alone regardless of their situation and making sure the public knows the correct way to #LoveTheEarth is extremely important to the Sweetbriar Nature Center’s day-to-day operations.
