Mercedes-Benz Vans Celebrates 15 Years in Charleston

Mercedes-Benz Vans are celebrating 15 years in Charleston. Over 200,000 Sprinter and Metrics have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations all over the U.S. In 2006 the small Charleston plant had only 100 employees and was performing semi-knockdown assembly. There are now more than 1,600 team members in the Mercedes-Benz Van facility in North Charleston today!   The Sprinter Van has been a huge success in the U.S. market, so in 2015 they made the decision to expand the existing re-assembly operation into a full-scale production plant with a new body shop, paint shop, and extended assembly building in time for the launch of the new Sprinter. The new facility has been running since 2018, with an investment of more than $500 million. It was announced that the eSprinter is coming to Charleston in 2023!Ever since the plant was established 15 years ago in Charleston, it has been a key pillar in Mercedes Vans global production network. Eventually the company will be able to meet the demands for battery electric vans and are able to respond to different markets while making optimum use of their capacities. The company is very excited to be the first to produce the next generation of the eSprinter. The plant will be investing 60 million dollars in order to fit for the electrified future.   Stop by Mercedes-Benz of Smithtown and explore our large inventory of Mercedes-Benz Sprinters and Metris! Contact us with any questions or concerns you may have. Mercedes-EQ has been working extremely hard to strive towards this goal. The design of the EQS SUV has a closed, wind-tight design, a wind-proof spoke design and closed radiator cover, and a bodystyle that guides air around the vehicle as smoothly as possible. In addition to the wind-tight design, Mercedes-EQ has taken steps to reduce drag and maximize performance. Drag was also reduced on the EQS SUV through aero-cladding. On the interior, luxury is everywhere. The most obvious interior element is the MBUX hyperscreen, a 3-in-1 touchscreen that spans the entirety of the vehicle’s dashboard. If the hyperscreen doesn’t scratch your technology itch, there is also an option to add on two 11.6” displays in the rear of the vehicle for passengers. Although the interior is packed with innovative features, none are intrusive or distracting. Luxury can be found anywhere in the interior, but distractions can’t be! Mercedes-EQ is happy to boast about the EQS SUV’s super quiet performance. The “off-road mode” is a unique mode where all passengers have a clear view of the beaten path, with the availability to see slope angles and inclination at real time. “We will build the world’s most desirable electric cars”, explains Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management; Mercedes-EQ is taking giant leaps towards manifesting that mission. Are Factory Windshields Better?

For many drivers, a damaged windshield is often overlooked or not considered a priority. However, driving with a chipped or cracked windshield increases your chances of getting into an accident or getting pulled over and fined. If not addressed quickly, a small chip or crack can turn into irreparable damage that calls for a more expensive windshield replacement on Long Island. This article highlights the benefits of scheduling a windshield repair service and how it impacts your safety. Protects the integrity of your vehicle Your car’s windshield is one of the most important structural features that keep you and your passengers safe. An undamaged windshield maintains the structural integrity of your vehicle and helps airbags deploy properly in the event of a crash or roll-over. A damaged windshield increases the risk of the glass shattering during an accident, a situation that can potentially cause more harm to you and your passengers. Scheduling a windshield repair protects the integrity of your vehicle and ensures your safety on the road. OEM Auto Glass OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. OEM auto glass is fabricated by the same manufacturer that provided the original glass the automaker placed in your vehicle. In essence, you should be getting an almost identical windshield to the factory auto glass your Mercedes-Benz  came with when it rolled off the assembly line. OEM glass also has special  Mercedes-Benz branding on it. Quality standards set forth by Mercede-Benz are met. Mercedes-Benz USA has also announced that it strongly recommends using OEM glass for windshield replacements. The automaker’s position statement says, “Aftermarket glass often does not account for complex electrical components and may interfere with your vehicle’s electronic systems, or cause these electronic systems to not function properly.” The statement also provides guidance for recalibration of on-board systems and ADAS. ADAS Systems ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems  and are designed to increase the drivers safety. They include technology such as collision avoidance, surround view, lane-departure warning, cross traffic alert, park assist, and heads-up displays. ADAS was seen as an upgrade for higher-end vehicles but is now becoming more standard in most makes and models. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is requiring ADAS to be standard in newly manufactured vehicles. Where to go for help?
