The St. James Calderone Theatre nestled in St. James, New York, is a cherished landmark with a remarkable past. Built in 1925 by the Calderone family, who owned a chain of movie theaters, the theater quickly became a vibrant hub for entertainment, hosting an array of performances, including vaudeville shows, movies, and concerts. During the 1960s, the theater found a new purpose as a television studio for the local CBS affiliate, adding to its colorful legacy. However, as the years passed, the Calderone Theatre fell into disrepair, facing the threat of demolition in the 1980s.
