As fate would have it, Joe had his father’s, and deceased founder’s, handicap-accessible 2020 Honda Odyssey van on hand. Competition BMW is excited to announce the long anticipated wait is over, the BMW i4 has finally arrived. Competition BMW is proud to announce and discuss the first vehicle of its kind in BMW’s history, the BMW i4 M50, and the first all-electric Gran Coupe, the BMW i4 eDrive40! The innovation of BMW has the opportunity to shine with the newly released BMW i4. With two models in its class, BMW has exceeded all expectations. The BMW i4 M50 keeps the same sporty characteristics that BMW is well-known for and BMW M has merged together these iconic specs with next-gen features, striving to find a perfect balance. A perfect balance both sought and achieved. BMWUSA encourages customers to “discover the intense combination of electric innovation and expert engineering” in regards to the BMW i4 M50.This brand new electric vehicle has nearly perfect weight distribution, which helps with responsiveness and an overall better balance for the vehicle. This 50/50 weight distribution does not take away from the aggressive and renowned BMW bodystyling, with Kidney Front Grilles and the Hofmeister kink. The i4 M50 is all-wheel drive, powered by dual electric motors injecting power to all four of the wheels independently. These dual motors also boost horsepower and acceleration; The 2022 BMW i4 M50 goes from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds, with a maximum horsepower of 536 mph. The i4 eDrive40 goes 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds with a maximum of 335 mph. The reduction of maximum horsepower is a fair trade-off, considering the i4 eDrive40 gets over 30 more miles of range in comparison to the i4 M50. The i4 eDrive40 has a range up to 301 miles, the i4 M50 has a 270 mile range. The i4 eDrive40 has a rear-mounted motor with rear-wheel drive. Although this vehicle does not come standard with BMW M trim or enhancements, there is always an option! The available M Sport Package includes the M Steering Wheel, Aerodynamic Kit, rear spoiler and exclusive wheel designs. Both of these BMW vehicles are the forefront of a more sustainable future due to their fully electric capabilities. This innovation in fuel can raise various questions for customers, the first question possibly being, “How do I charge my car?” BMW has you covered. There are various ways to charge your brand new electric vehicle. BMW has partnered with Electrify America, and offers 2 years of complimentary 30-minute charging sessions. Every BMW i4 comes with a Flexible Fast Charger. This is a portable device that is compatible with any 120V or 240V outlet. When charging on a 240V outlet, you can charge your BMW i4 from 0%-100% in less than 10 hours. You can also charge your new electric car from 0% to 100% in less than 10 hours with a BMW Wallbox at home. This Wallbox is a Level 2 charger that gets installed in the garage, creating rapid charging whenever you need it. BMW is releasing a third generation of the Wallbox by the second half of 2022! The sustainability of the BMW i4 does not stop at the type of fuel intake. BMW reduced their use of raw materials to using 100% renewable energy at production plants. In addition, BMW makes their own batteries using the aforementioned 100% renewable energy to constantly work towards reducing CO2 emissions globally. With June 8th being World Oceans Day, BMW is proud to raise awareness by teaming up with Oceana and Washed Ashore. Both of these amazing non-profit organizations work tirelessly to protect, preserve, and raise awareness for the depleting state of our oceans. Oceana is a leader in protecting and restoring marine abundance and biodiversity. Washed Ashore is a non-profit organization devoted to reducing ocean plastic by repurposing ocean pollution into art that brightens communities while raising awareness. Oceana is a non-profit organization that has protected almost 4 million square miles of ocean and has won over 225 victories for the oceans. Some of these victories include but are not limited to: stopping bottom trawling in sensitive habitat areas of sea turtles, to commercial fishing gear, to protecting over 25,000 square miles of deep-sea coral in New England’s Georges Bank and the Gulf of Maine. Oceana’s current campaign focus is trying to protect the most endangered large whales on the planet, the North Atlantic Right Whale. The lack of population is worrisome, with less than 80 breeding females and only about 330 whales in existence. Washed Ashore has gathered over 60,000 lbs of beach debris and repurposed the pollution into art sculptures that inspire change and spread awareness. Washed Ashore’s mission is to “build and exhibit aesthetically powerful art to educate a global audience about plastic pollution in the ocean and waterways…to spark positive changes in consumer habits”. BMW has partnered with these fabulous great non-profit organizations to raise awareness while highlighting BMW’s own steps toward a brighter future and cleaner ocean. BMW has released the iX, the fully electric SAV, built in a 100% renewable energy plant. Learn more about the iX and i4 in our in-depth blog post here. The iX is made with sustainable materials, olive leaf tanned leather, and floor coverings and mats from recovered fishing nets. BMW has also contractually agreed with all of their battery cell manufacturers to only use green electricity when producing the fifth-generation of battery cells. With this use of green electricity, over 10 million tons of CO2 are saved within a span of 10 years. In the future, BMW will purchase its cobalt directly from non-industrial Australian and Moroccan mines, ensuring 100% transparency regarding the origin of these key raw materials. BMW will also purchase their lithium directly from the mines in Australia. BMW has also partnered with BASF SE, a German multinational chemical company and the largest chemical producer in the world, GIZ, a German development company, Samsung SDI and Samsung in Electronics in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to create a cross-sector initiative. The goal of this initiative is to improve the conditions in the aforementioned integral cobalt mines. GIZ will test out a 3-year-long project to better the living conditions of these small-scale mines and their communities. If this project is a success, the approach will possibly be implemented long term, transferring to other small, non-industrial mines. The BMW brand has landed the number one spot as the most-shopped luxury car brand for the first quarter of 2022. BMW had taken this top spot for the past 11 out of 12 quarters, INFINITI beat BMW at the last second in the last quarter of 2021. However, BMW beat out INFINITI once again, regaining the #1 spot as per Kelley Blue Book and also the hearts of our customers! BMW’s consideration percentage increased a point from the final quarter of 2021 to the first quarter of 2022. 21% of luxury car shoppers considered purchasing a BMW in the first quarter of 2022! Competition BMW is happy to report that there was a 37% increase in shopping for our 5 Series sedan, and a 7% increase of customers shopping for our 3 Series. The BMW 5 Series and 3 Series were not done taking crowns, both of these vehicles were included on the Top 5 Luxury Cars List for Q1 of 2022. The 5 Series took home second place, the 3 Series took home 3rd place out of 5. For the first time ever, BMW was crowned number 1 in Driving Performance. This milestone dethroned both Porsche and Tesla. This accolade that BMW was awarded is well-deserved, with impressive vehicles and specs on every model and trim level. Highlighting the specs on both the 5 Series models and the 3 Series models will cosign Kelley Blue Book’s conclusion (although a test-drive in one of these award-winning vehicles will do the same, but instead of on your computer, you’ll have your foot on the gas, your hands on the wheel, and a huge smile on your face!) *European model shown* The BMW 5 Series is just as versatile as it is popular. The BMW M model, the BMW M3, is BMW’s “action-packed sedan.” The BMW M model is speedy to say the least as the M in “M model” stands for motorsports. BMWUSA states that “excitement knows no bounds in this extreme sports sedan…BMW M engineering levels up every drive.” The BMW M3 can go from 0-60 mph in as little as 3.4 seconds. This is due to the massive power of it’s engine, a 3 liter inline 6 cylinder BMW M TwinPower Turbo engine.  A simple glance at the gorgeous bodystyle and specs of the BMW M3 brings clarity as to why it was one of the most shopped luxury vehicles for the quarter. At this point, it is no surprise that BMW has the most amount of models on the Top 10 List of the Most-Shopped Vehicles for the first quarter of 2022. The aforementioned 5 Series was ranked at 6th, the 3 Series was ranked 8th, and the BMW X5 was ranked 9th. This feat is impressive as the majority of the vehicles on the list were SUVS, 7 out of 10 vehicles were SUVs. One of the many SUVs on the list was our very own SAV, the BMW X5! The x5 is one of BMW’s Sports Activity Vehicles with 5 trim levels, the X5 sDrive40i and X5 xDrive 40i, the X5 xDrive45e, and the two BMW M models, the X5 M50i and the X5 M. WHAT DOES IT MEAN IF MY CAR IS IN TRANSIT? If your vehicle is in transit, it means a designation for vehicles that have come off the assembly line but have not yet arrived at the dealership. Depending where the model line is produced the vehicle can arrive at the dealership within 3-30 days. The vehicle will then be considered in transit until it has arrived at your dealership. The sleek and super sporty four-door 2020 BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe, 2021 Audi RS7 Sportback, and 2021 Mercedes -AMG GT63 S hit the road to compete for top honors. Car and Driver shares with us the similarities and comparisons between the 2021 Audi RS7, 2020 BMW M8, and the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT63S. These vehicles are crafted with a version of a narrow-eyed performance-car glare, a dropped roofline, and a sloping tail. Each model is equipped with all-wheel drive, adaptive dampers, brake rotors, and twin-turbo V-8 at least 4.0 liters. The GT63 makes the top of the list for both power and price with 630 horsepower at $199,910 as-tested price. The M8 is priced at $167,245 for 617 ponies. The least expensive is the RS7 which is priced at $137,540 with 591 horsepower. BMW M8 Compétition Gran Coupe The BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe's best qualities include quick start, quick stops, and an adolescently ferocious rear-wheel-drive setting. Although the BMW M8 can go 2.7- seconds 60-mph time and 10.8-second quarter-mile it would still come in behind against the GT63 but the M8’s all-out acceleration times beat the RS7’s.  The M8 is very well equipped with a big touchscreen, carbon-fiber trim, quilt leather, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated adjustable steering wheel, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, adaptive cruise control, a menu of driver’s aids, and a more expansive menu of the aforementioned performance-mode options. Mercedes-AMG  GT63 S The Mercedes-AMG GT63 s qualities include steering, braking, and engine roar. The GT63 is the loudest of the group and can go 70 mph. With the loudest tires - wide Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s, can hold on to the skidpad with 1.05g’s. The GT63 can also go 2.6-second time to 60 mph and a 10.7-second quarter-mile with 129-mph trap speed beating both the Audi and the BMW.
