When Does The Subaru Share The Love Event Start?

For over the last 13 years, through the Subaru Share the Love Event, Subaru of America Inc. and its participating retailers have donated more than $200 million to charity, with customers choosing between four national and over 1,440 hometown charities. Through the Share the Love Event, the ASPCA has had a significant impact on the rescue, transport, and adoption of more than 74,000 animals across the country. The ASPCA's mission, as stated by founder Henry Bergh in 1866, is "to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.” Visit aspca.org for more information on ways to give, how you can help, and how to adopt a pet. The impact of just one wish has the power to transform the lives of everyone involved and helps wish kids and their families believe in better days ahead. In partnership with the Subaru Share the Love Event, Make-A-Wish has granted the life-changing wishes of more than 2,700 kids with critical illnesses. Visit wish.org for more information on how you can get involved, fundraise, volunteer, support, and donate. Since 1954, Meals on Wheels has been guided by a single goal to support our senior neighbors to extend their independence and health as they age. What started as a compassionate idea has grown into one of the largest and most effective social movements in America, currently helping nearly 2.4 million seniors annually in virtually every community in the country. Visit mealsonwheelsamerica.org for more information on ways to donate and how to volunteer. National Park Foundation In partnership with the National Park Service, the National Park Foundation improves America’s national parks and programs. Through the Subaru Share the Love Event, the National Park Foundation is able to increase public awareness and engagement across our National Park System and provide critical funding to programs and projects in more than 400 national parks. Working together with a growing community of passionate park champions, the National Park Foundation strives to ensure that all people are able to discover their own personal connections to national parks. Competition Subaru Helps Those In Need One Blanket At A Time

Since 2007, November has been dedicated to raising awareness for people dealing with homelessness and educating the public on ways to help end homelessness. More than 500,000 Americans are experiencing homelessness and worry about staying warm as the nights grow colder. As we enter the season of giving and as nights get colder, we want to do our part in making a difference to those who need our help during National Homeless Awareness Month. Subaru Loves To Help The Subaru Loves To Help initiative is about supporting those who need it the most in our communities. Subaru of America and Subaru retailers are taking action by partnering with local homeless shelters to personally deliver water-resistant blankets and warm socks to help those in need. Last November, as part of Subaru Loves to Help, Subaru of America and its retailers provided 50,000 warm blankets to homeless shelters across the country. This year, Subaru and its retailers are doing it again to bring the total donation to 100,000 blankets to help those experiencing homelessness. In addition to more blankets, 50,000 pairs of socks will also be donated. Competition Subaru Proud To Support Pax Christi Hospitality Center Competition Subaru will be donating 80 blankets to the Pax Christi Hospitality Center. No Dogs Left Behind – The Fight Against Inhumane Dog Meat Market

It is estimated that every year over 30 million dogs are slaughtered for human consumption in Asian countries including China, Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, Laos, and Indonesia. With those numbers, it seems like a hopeless task for the organizations that are desperately fighting to end the dog meat trade in Asia. No Dogs Left Behind, a non-profit international animal welfare organization, was founded by Jeffrey Beri in 2016 and leads the way in the global war against animal cruelty. Competition Subaru of Smithtown is proud to support No Dogs Left Behind and their mission to end the dog meat market and illegal dog traffickers. Jeffrey and his team have been fighting for the past several years and are committed to ending this horrific industry in Asia. The Fight Against The Inhumane Dog Meat Market Their mission extends beyond borders worldwide, advocating for the creation and enforcement of animal welfare laws, and raising awareness for a cruelty-free, sustainable world in which no animal is violated, exploited, tortured, or slaughtered for commercial goods or profit. Working hands-on with local activists through emergency response, Jeffrey’s team pulls dogs directly from slaughterhouses, dog meat trucks, wet markets, and traffickers. The NDLB team works day in and day out to save as many dogs as they can from being recklessly and inhumanely slaughtered for human consumption. How You Can Help No Dogs Left Behind Adopt A Dog – Take one or two of the broken souls into your home and give them the love they deserve. NDLB is constantly looking for homes for their many shelter dogs. Check out the dogs they have for adoption here. Sponsor A Dog – Sponsoring a dog is the next best thing you can do if you can’t adopt a dog. By sponsoring a dog, you are paying for their monthly food, veterinary care, and routine vaccinations until they can find a permanent home. Another option includes flight sponsorship which will assist in getting the dog to the United States and into a forever home, foster home, or rescue partnership. The cost of a flight sponsorship varies depending upon the weight and size of the dog being transported. Learn how to sponsor a dog here. Foster A Dog – Fosters are always needed throughout the USA and Canada. Fostering one of the survivors allows for more space in their sanctuaries so more dogs can be saved from the illegal dog meat trafficking trade in East Asia. In addition to saving more lives, fostering helps their survivors by giving them the opportunity to adjust to a home environment and decompress from the trauma that they have experienced, thereby making for a more successful, forever adoption. NDLB is specifically looking for fosters right now here on Long Island! For more information on fostering, visit their website here. Volunteer Your Time – Get more involved and offer your talent and energy to help the efforts of NDLB! You can help with fundraising initiatives in your community, graphic design assistance, email alerts, write stories about the survivors, and help with media and community outreach. If you are interested in volunteering, visit their website here. Donate Monthly – Monthly donors are the lifeline for NDLB. Every dollar donated makes a difference in the life of their dogs, and enables them to continue to rescue more. Donations are critical to funding the ongoing expenses associated with the care, rehabilitation, and transport of their survivors. Every little bit helps. To donate, visit their here. No Dogs Left Behind Safe-Havens With nearly 500 survivors in their care, No Dogs Left Behind operates sanctuaries in Dayi and Gongyi, Asia. In these safe havens, these once victimized and exploited dogs receive medical care, nutritional support, and rehabilitation on an ongoing basis. No Dogs Left Behind goes beyond rescue, doing whatever it takes to heal the physical and emotional scars these animals suffer and to find them their forever loving homes. Meet their brave survivors here. Competition Subaru of Smithtown is proud to support No Dogs Left Behind and their mission to end the inhumane dog meat market and illegal dog traffickers. Give back with Genuine Subaru Pet-friendly Accessories!

October is Subaru Loves Pets month, and we’re celebrating by giving back to shelter pets in need. Through the end of the month, Subaru is donating $10 to the ASPCA® for every Genuine Subaru Pet-friendly Accessory sold online*! The amount raised will add to the $30+ million donated to animal welfare organizations since the inception of the Subaru Loves Pets initiative. Subaru Loves Pets A core principle of our Subaru Loves Pets initiative is an ongoing commitment to help all pets find their perfect, loving home. We stand by this commitment through a scale of actions; from supporting local pet-adoption efforts to being the ASPCA’s largest corporate donor. Subaru is proud to have donated over $30 million to support the adoption, rescue, transport, and health of more than 250,000 animals. This October, we’re amplifying our love of pets by ramping up helpful initiatives during our annual Subaru Loves Pets month. We’ll continue our long-standing commitment to help shelter dogs—especially those with special needs like the older, deaf, blind, and “different” dogs that we lovingly call the “Underdogs”—get adopted. Subaru and its retailers (like us) will help support over 600 local shelters across the country by donating $100 for every pet adopted during October**. National Make A Dog’s Day Mark your calendars—for the third year in a row, Subaru will celebrate our National Make A Dog’s Day on October 22. This is a day where we encourage all dog lovers to do something extra special for their dogs. This day, combined with Subaru Loves Pets Month efforts, has helped many pets find loving homes—including thousands of incredible Underdogs. Show us a picture of your adventures with your furry friends using #MakeADogsDay on social media. You can follow that hashtag to see what others across the country are doing to honor their pets, too! Thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of shelter pets.

Competition Subaru Proud To Support Paige Keely Foundation

The Paige Elizabeth Keely Foundation is a nonprofit 501c3 (EIN-84-5024812) organization that was created in honor of Paige Keely, who passed away at the age of 6, due to a brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM). Early AVM detection can help to change the course of this disease. Competition Subaru is proud to support the Paige Keely Foundation at the Wave of Change Gala on October 6th 2021. The Paige Keely Foundation Founder and President Gina Keely created The Paige Elizabeth Keely Foundation in hopes to increase funding for early AVM detection and to raise awareness for AVM’s, educate communities about this treatable condition, and to establish early detection screening programs. The Foundation is working on opening a Brain Imaging Center here on Long Island.  This will open so many doors for early detection of not only Brain AVM’s, and Aneurysms, but will also detect other unknown conditions someone may have.  Our imaging center will allow any child or adult, insured or not, to have the ability receive MRA imaging. What Are Pediatric AVMs? Arteriovenous Malformations (AVMs) are abnormal tangles of arteries and veins that can occur anywhere in the body. These abnormalities are typically congenital and are present at birth. They usually are not detected unless they cause seizures, weakness, or have ruptured and bled in the brain. Neurologic or life threatening sequelae are associated with each hemorrhage. There is a 4% per year risk of hemorrhage once an AVM has become symptomatic. Treatment is required to reduce that risk and subsequent problems associated with additional hemorrhage. Treatment for AVMs can be quite complex and it is critical that patients with this disorder be managed and surgically treated in a center with extensive AVM experience. Causes of Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) The cause of Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) is not known. AVMs are thought to be congenital (present at birth), and researchers believe that they may arise from developmental derangements at the embryonic stage of vessel formation (at the fetal stage). However, this theory has never been clearly established, and some researchers believe that AVMs may arise after birth. Unlike the association of head trauma, or other injuries with the development of dural arteriovenous fistulae (DAVF), there are no known environmental risk factors for AVMs. Most AVMs are termed "sporadic," which implies that they arise spontaneously without a specific gene mutation being passed on from parent to child. There is no clear familial inheritance, except in families with Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT). HHT patients are at some 10,000 fold higher risk of developing a brain AVM than the non-HHT population. Importance of Early Detection Screening & Scanning Identifying and treating Brain Arteriovenous Malformations & Aneurysms before they rupture can and will save lives. If Brain AVM’s & Aneurysms rupture, effective treatment becomes more difficult, and generally a person's chances of surviving are much lower. Brain AVM’s & Aneurysms that have not ruptured typically have little to no symptoms, until it’s too late. Wave of Change Gala The Paige Keely Foundation is hosting their upcoming Wave of Change Gala on October 6th 2021. The purpose of the Gala is to honor Paige, AVM Awareness month and to raise funding for our imaging center.  All the proceeds of the Gala will be used to fund two MRA imaging machines. Help Make A Difference Please consider making a donation to the Paige Elizabeth Keely Foundation. No family should have to go through the pain of losing a child when early detection could have kept this beautiful 6-year-old child here today.
