BMW earned TOP OVERALL SPOT in Consumer Reports’ 2023 Auto Brand Report Card Rankings!

BMW outperformed Subaru, the previous year’s champion, securing the top spot in Consumer Reports’ annual Auto Brand Report Card Rankings. These rankings aim to showcase which car manufacturers produce the safest, best-performing, and most reliable vehicles. Consumer Reports, a Consumer Research, Testing, and Advocacy Organization, conducts over 50 science-based tests on each evaluated vehicle. To maintain objectivity, Consumer Reports purchases all test cars anonymously and does not accept free samples for ratings or evaluations.

Fun Fact! CR testers drive a total of 500,000 miles/year in the vehicles that they evaluate! 

The Factors for BMW’s 2023 Takeover

Competing against 32 vehicle brands, BMW USA claimed the first position in Consumer Reports’ 2023 Auto Brand Report Card Rankings. BMW launched itself up 2 spots from the previous year’s, the 2022 CR Auto Brand Report Card Rankings. During 2022, BMW was awarded a third place title in the Top Overall Spot rankings.

This year’s first-place decision from CR auto testers was unanimous: BMW builds many high,performing, reliable and full-featured vehicle models.

This title-win is based off of BMW’s great “Road Test” scores as well as impressive and incomparable results. Tied with CR’s reliability and owner satisfaction categories, BMW is indescribably honored. 

Consumer Report tests the convenience, comfort, handling, fuel economy and braking of their focused vehicle, resulting in the “Road Test” score.

Following the Road Test Score, CR then generates its “Overall Score”. The Overall Score from Consumer Report consists of a combination of the Test Drive Score with various other tested elements. These elements stem from the predicted reliability, owner satisfaction (based on member surveys), key safety features and crash-test results (if available) for all models tested.

BMW has continued to impress auto-testers, reviewers, owners and the auto-industry as a whole.
