Mercedes-Benz of Huntington Shares How to Prepare Your Vehicle For Summer!

Similarly to all of Competition Auto Group’s dealerships, at Mercedes-Benz of Huntington, our Service Department is dedicated to ensuring the safety and longevity of our customers‘ vehicles, daily. Many clients visit our Competition Auto Group dealerships before their summer road trips to destinations like upstate New York, the wineries out East or weekends in Montauk, to prepare their cars. A common question we receive is, “What should I do to get my car ready for the summer?

Our first recommendation is always to come in for a complimentary Multi-Point Inspection and Fluid Top-Off!

A multi-point inspection at Mercedes-Benz of Huntington involves a comprehensive check of your vehicle to ensure it is in optimal working condition. This inspection typically includes a thorough evaluation of several key areas:

  1. Exterior and Interior: Checking the condition of the lights, body, and mirrors, as well as the interior features such as belts, seats, and controls.
  2. Engine Compartment: Inspecting the engine and related components, including belts, hoses, fluid levels, and vehicle battery.
  3. Undercarriage: Examining the exhaust system, brakes, suspension, and other components for wear and tear or potential issues.
  4. Tires and Wheels: Assessing the condition and alignment of the tires and wheels to ensure proper balance and wear.

During the inspection, our certified technicians look for signs of leaks, wear, or damage and provide recommendations for any necessary repairs or maintenance. The goal is to catch potential issues early to prevent more significant problems, or worse, on the way to your dream summer adventure.

One of the most common repairs/maintenance needed in the summer is a Cabin Filter Replacement. Mercedes-Benz recommends changing our cabin filters every two years of 20,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is always included in your B Service. In the summertime, clients often report an odor coming from their air conditioning. This usually indicates that the cabin filter has accumulated debris over time, causing the smell when we start using our air conditioners again.
