For the first time in 5 years, the Porsche community gathered together in Monterey, California, to celebrate Porsche’s iconic and illustrious racing history! For Porsche’s 75th Anniversary, over 91,000 car enthusiasts gathered together to celebrate the Rennsport Reunion 7 (RR7). To say this celebration was a grand time is an understatement, such a large turn-up resulted in RECORD-BREAKING attendance! The RR7 is currently the largest Rennsport in history!

To make matters more exciting, the Buzzetta family had the distinct privilege of racing their impressive, vintage Porsche vehicles as well as showcasing both of their family’s 1964 Elva-Porsche and 1964 Porsche 904 in the Werks Trophy Class! Joe Buzzetta Jr., owner of Mercedes-Benz of Smithtown, drove the 1964 Elva-Porsche, and James Buzzetta Jr., General Manager of Competition Subaru of Smithtown, drove the 1964 Porsche 904!

At Porsche’s RR7, the Buzzetta Family’s impressive Porsche 904 was among the approximately 65 vehicles invited to RR7’s Concours.

The Buzzetta Family’s 1964 Porsche 904 took home the win and was awarded the title of:

“Wolfgang Porsche’s Favorite”!

This special recognition was bestowed upon the Buzzettas’ Porsche due to the heart-warming personal connection all around—Wolfgang’s father designed the Porsche 904. Wolfgang was deeply moved by the Buzzettas’ Porsche’s significant history with the brand. This silvery 1964 Porsche 904 won:

  • The Targo Florio in 1964
  • A Class Victory by James’ Grandfather at the 1966 Daytona 24 Hours
  • Achieved Multiple Podiums World-wide!

That wasn’t the only attention-grabbing event at Porsche’s RR7, they had another familiar factor to showcase! Porsche took the perfect time to present the new 911 Porsche Carrera T in a heart-warming rivalry honoring historical Porsche ground-breakers.

One of these ground-breakers includes our very own beloved Joe Buzzetta, whose name adorned the hood.

As an honorary treat and eye-candy for all the 91,000+ Porsche fanatics, Competition Auto has the sheer pleasure to announce that the new Porsche Carrera T was outfitted beautifully to pay tribute to Joe Buzzetta, and additional remarkable individuals, due to the pivotal role(s) that were played and displayed in both Porsche’s history as well as fanatic community!

What an incredible shoutout, we cannot thank Porsche enough for the emphasis of Joe’s impact, this truly brought indescribable and immense joy to the Buzzetta family.

The Porsche event also featured numerous race car drivers and other additional figures from both the Porsche factory as well as the Porsche Family. Joe, James and the Buzzetta family were truly elated to see the Porsche Family again as they reconnected on the West Coast with engaging and heartwarming conversations!

Competition Auto Group would love to express a heartfelt thank you to Stephen Landau, @imageluminaries on Instagram,
