Any car enthusiast in Long Island, New York, and all over the world, has heard of the iconic name Mercedes-AMG®. This year, AMG® celebrates it’s 55th anniversary with a special limited release of a special “55 Edition” of a few of their models including the AMG® CLA 45, AMG® G 63, and the AMG® A 35 hatchback. The AMG® brand has had roots in the automotive community since 1967, making AMG® a key part in vehicle history. Both the AMG® G 63 and AMG® CLA 45 will have 55 units each available to the American market while the AMG® A 35 hatchback will be available in Europe only. f you have been a part of the car scene for the past couple of months then you know that this is the era of the electric vehicles, or "EVs" for short. Every automotive company has been churning out electric versions of their most popular vehicles. Last year it was the 2022 EQS for Mercedes-Benz, an electric version of their flagship vehicle, the S-Class. Becoming an instant hit, Mercedes-Benz has furthered the Mercedes-EQ line with their all-new all-electric SUV: the EQS SUV 450+. This groundbreaking SUV is the first large luxury SUV from Mercedes-EQ that seats up to seven people. This Mercedes-Benz is expected to rival both the Tesla Model X and BMW iX with an estimated range of 373 miles. Similarly to the 2022 EQS, the EQS SUV will have two trim levels: the 450+ with rear-wheel drive and the dual-motor EQS SUV 580 4MATIC®. According to The Verge, “The 450+’s 265kW rear-axle motor will put out 265kW of energy, enabling 355 horsepower and 419 pound-feet of torque. The 580 4MATIC® configurations front and rear-axle motors put out a combined 400kWh, for 536 horsepower and 633 pound-feet of torque.”. Additionally, the EQS SUV will also feature the Hyperscreen. Taking style cues from both the 2022 EQS, EQE, and EQB, the EQS SUV mimics the grille, single-tail light setup, and wheelbase size of 126 inches. Being an SUV, this new EV obviously differentiates itself from the EQS by size. The EQS SUV will be over 7.8 inches higher than the 2022 EQS sedan. Sitting at a whopping 202 inches long, 77 inches wide, and 68 inches tall, the EQS SUV is slightly slimmer and shorter than the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class. This electric SUV is scheduled to go into production at the Mercedes-Benz plant in the next few months, making the EQS SUV available to Mercedes-Benz drivers in Huntington, Northport, Commack, Fort Salonga, and all over the world very soon! While we have previously discussed Mercedes-Benz’ newfound role in philanthropy, however Mercedes-Benz has been focusing upon the ratio of women in STEM while producing The Best or Nothing for years. In November of 2019,  Mercedes-Benz, Mattel and the National Girls Collaborative Project launched “ No Limits” on National STEM/STEAM Day; which is an initiative that aims to encourage children to consider hobbies regardless of the stereotype they may have. Mercedes-Benz teamed up with Mattel to make a Matchbox version of Ewy Rosqvist’s 1962 220 SE Sedan. Ewy Rosqvist was the first woman to compete in and win the Argentina Grand Prix in 1962. Mercedes-Benz and Mattel continued with the National Girls Collaborative Project to build an initiative to give out 50,000 of the models cars to young girls, with the hope of instilling them with the urge to fight the stereotypes of what girls and boys can do. In July of 2020, The Mercedes F1 team, and primarily Lewis Hamilton, the race-driver currently representing Mercedes in Formula One, created The Hamilton Commission. This Commission was created after Hamilton saw Mercedes F1 staff photographs and their lack of diversity. The Hamilton Commission goal is to promote diversity in motorsports, “in our organization, just 3% of our workforce identify as belonging to minority ethnic groups and only 12% of our employees are women,” the Mercedes F1 team noted at the time. “This lack of diversity shows that we need to find new approaches to attract talent from many areas of society we do not currently reach.” The Mercedes F1 team did not hesitate to recruit new team members, Mercedes has begun orienting their goals to bring 25% of its new recruits from under-represented groups every year until the end of 2025. In November of 2020, Mercedes F1 Team and Lewis Hamilton also announced a new partnership with the Mulberry Schools Trust and launched the Mulberry STEM Academy. Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff (who holds a 33% stake in the Mercedes-AMG® Petronas F1 Team) partnered up with students from the Mulberry Academy of Shoreditch, Mulberry School for Girls and Mulberry UTC virtually during the launch of the Mulberry STEM Academy. This academy offers extra-curriculars in science, technology, engineering and mathematics subjects for students ranging from 7-years-old to 18. The Mulberry Academy pointedly places students from minority and disadvantaged backgrounds to the frontlines of STEM industries. With the help and encouragement of Hamilton, Wolff, and Mercedes-Benz, there will be new, diverse, generations of engineers and designers. In March of 2021, Mercedes began a partnership with the Stemettes to encourage girls, young women and non-binary people to have interest and curiosity for STEM related hobbies. The Stemettes are a social enterprise that aims to support and guide young women as well as non-binary people in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths careers. The Stemettes teamed up with Mercedes F1 engineers on a four-month mentoring program. Through learning workshops, firsthand experiences, guidance and encouragement the Stemettes have worked with more than 50,000 young people ages 5-25 internationally since 2013. On January 27th 2022, The Stemettes and Mercedes collaborated again for National Mentoring Month. The collaboration was a livestream over Instagram with educators from Mercedes-Benz that made for a “‘STEM”azing” chat with viewers! In May of 2022, rap and pop superstar will.i.am collaborated with Mercedes-Benz called “The Flip”. The Flip is the second major project from will.i.am, which creates a one-time Mercedes-Benz GT 4-Door Coupé with modifications that aim to set the overall expectations of vehicles produced in the future. The role of this special GT 4-Door Coupé is to work directly with helping disadvantaged students learn with the “ i.am/Angel Foundation”; The i.am/Angel Foundation is will.i.am’s STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) education outreach organization for disadvantaged families and communities. Each and every activity involved with any usage of  “The Flip” will have the i.am/Angel Foundation forging the way to “build a STEAM-ready talent pool that will lift families and communities out of poverty”, according to Mercedes- AMG®. This foundation was formed to inspire younger generations of technology creators, “every school has a basketball court, and many have football fields, but only two businesses benefit from these skill sets, and it’s mostly for boys,” will.i.am said in a statement last year about his collaboration with FIRST Robotics and the L.A. school system. “Football is great, but my niece will never play for the NFL. With robotics clubs, boys and girls can learn valuable STEM skills and how to work in teams – knowledge that helps secure college scholarships and, eventually, high-paying jobs.” This past June, Mercedes-Benz celebrated their global initiative,She’s Mercedes, turning 7 years old! Mercedes-Benz created this global initiative dedicated to inspiring, connecting and empowering women and their unique success, not to get women to buy more cars. When asked why Mercedes-Benz launched a platform for women in a male-dominated genre, their answer was simple, “because respect and diversity are elementary principles for Mercedes-Benz. And also, because we believe that the power of inspiration can achieve outstanding things, especially when connecting people.” The She’s Mercedes platform created a dialogue for women and their experiences, and fosters female empowerment in all sectors, from entrepreneurs, innovators, artists to engineers. In October 2021, three Canadian motorsport athletes, Demi Chalkias, Cherie Storms and Nicole Havrda, piloted the always impressive and powerful Mercedes-AMG® GT4 in an endurance race at California’s Buttonwillow Raceway Park. This teamed was formed with Mercedes-Benz of Canada team under the leadership of former race-car driver Melanie Paterson, coach and mentor. ' Nicole Havrda at only 16-years-old, has been inputting countless hours training on a racing simulator. Nicole began her career racing go-karts, where she was named West Coast Kart Club’s Rookie of the Year in 2019, the same year as her first podium finish. Nicole is currently training to compete in Formula 3 competition across North America in 2023 in the open-wheel racing car category. Nicole has been taking the male-dominated field head-on since before the tender age of 16, and plans to double-down on female representation well into her twenties. Cherie Storms, the first woman to compete in Mazda Club and a three-time Sports Car Club of BC Competitor of the Year Recipient, competes across Canada and the United States in sprint and endurance sportscar racing. When Cherie is not spinning wheels and drifting on the track, she is a mentor dedicated to promote and encourage female drivers. In June of 2022, Mercedes-Benz of Canada has collaborated with Demi Chalkias for She’s Mercedes. Demi Chalkias, who professionally races a Mercedes-Benz AMG® GT53, won the 2018 GT4 Championship, and was the first woman to win the CASC GT3 Championship in 2020. Demi proclaims that she “lives to show other girls they can succeed in male dominated sports”, and what an inspiration she is! These highly courageous and intelligent women are helping to further pave the way to female empowerment and increasing female representation in male-dominated fields. With the production of various electric vehicles, releasing body styles and specs of the 2023 line-up, and planning future line-ups, Mercedes-Benz has increased their presence by entering into the realm of philanthropy. Mercedes-Benz has created a scholarship program, called the The Mercedes-Benz Fund, to support young minds worldwide, focusing on areas of environmental science and decarbonization. The funding for this global initiative is directly from the auction of one of the rarest vehicles to exist: The 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé. This vehicle is 1 of 2 prototypes ever created and represents a milestone in sports car development. This gorgeous car was sold for 135 million EUR, or $142,421,490 USD and is described by Mercedes-Benz themself as “an absolute rarity…one of the finest examples of automotive engineering and design by automotive experts and enthusiasts worldwide.” The 1955 300 SLR is more than deserving of the high accolades and recognition.  Motorsport Guru Karl Ludvigsen described the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR as “one of the most exciting cars that Mercedes-Benz has ever built.” This statement by Ludvigsen is especially valid when reviewing the specs of the vehicle, which is only emphasized in combination to the expectations and the technological availabilities of the mid 1950s. Described by the creator Rudolf Uhlenhaut himself as a “hot-heeled touring car”, the name fits the bill! This rare coupé outputs 310 horsepower and weights a little short of 2,500lbs; it was the fastest car registerable for use on public roads during its release era. Unfortunately, Mercedes-Benz felt the demand was extremely low for such a speedy, yet elegant and relaxed, sports coupé during the mid-1950s, sealing its fate to it’s extremely recherché title 67 years later. The proceeds from this auction will go towards Mercedes-Benz’ global scholarship program to encourage the new generations to develop amazing and new technology to follow in Rudolf’s innovative footsteps. The Mercedes-Benz Fund will focus supporting young people in their commitment to studying and creating a more sustainable future, “We are convinced that access to education in these areas will be crucial in encountering the great challenges of our time and contribute to greater stability, prosperity and social cohesion” explains Renata Jungo Brüngger, who is a board member of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG for Integrity and Legal Affairs, and is mainly responsible for the governance of the Mercedes-Benz Fund. The 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR now holds a spot on the list for top ten most valuable items of any type to ever be sold at auction. Knowing there are only two of these gorgeous vehicles in the world, it is natural to wonder where the second half of the matching set is; The second 300 SLR Coupé remains in Mercedes-Benz ownership and will continue to be displayed at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany. Mercedes has therefore not only set the stage for luxury vehicles but for philanthropy as well.

Prepare for the vehicle that is crowned the “Most G-Class ever” to be released by Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz USA has announced the limited time release of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz G 63 4×4, “that can’t get more G than this!” What immediately sets this vehicle apart from the rest of the fleet in the Mercedes-Benz G-Class is the combination of the single suspension of the front and portal axles. This addition makes the 2023 G 63 4×4 appear as huge and extraordinary as its silhouette warns. To paint a clear picture, this 2023 G 63 giant is permanently all-wheel drive, has ground clearance of 13.8 inches, which is 4.3 inches more in comparison to the 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class, and has 10.5 more inches of body length as well. An AMG V8 Twin Turbo engine ties everything together with 585 horses to emphasize this heart-stopping menace as truly one of a kind. The Mercedes-Benz G 63 4×4 pushes every single boundary and is the most customizable Mercedes-AMG® G-Class special model ever! There are 40 different paint options for this vehicle, ranging from Green Hell Magno to Hyacinth Red Magno, to many, many more. This vehicle refuses to compromise in any sort of way and is indescribably stunning and impressive. There are new, exclusive features in this 2023 Mercedes-Benz G-Class as well. Mercedes-Benz takes the luxurious ambient lighting element and amplifies it. The designers of this 4×4 G-Class decided to extend the already jaw-dropping ambient lighting feature by inputting LED lights into the interior air vents of the vehicle. The designers did not stop there, an exclusive feature of this aggressive 2023 G-Class is the special start-up welcome message found on the dashboard; this welcome screen was developed specifically for the Mercedes-Benz G 63 4×4 and can only be found and displayed in this stunning vehicle! Another feature is the Digital Interior Mirror, which lends the driver a “perfect view” of the back of the vehicle. This is helpful for drivers, especially when considering those who might not be as familiar with driving a model such as this. The Digital Interior Mirror will also come in handy when drivers experience the off-road capabilities of this militaristic monster. The 2023 Mercedes-Benz G 63 4×4 has approval for every type of off-roading, on every type of terrain. Climbing provides no obstacles for the G-Class 4×4, hills as steep as 45 degrees are no match. You might’ve read “every type of terrain” and “refuses to compromise”. Mercedes-Benz of Smithtown is proud to boast that the 2023 G 63 4×4 can power through waters as deep as 35.8268 inches, or 910mm, of water. That is nearly 3 feet of water! On dry land, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz G 63 4×4 has 13.8189 inches, or 351mm, of clearance. The 2023 Mercedes-Benz G 63 4×4 also features rugged carbon elements surrounding the monstrous vehicle. These accents can be found exteriorly on the wheel arch extensions, spoiler, protective stripes around the vehicle and on the spare wheel holder cover. Interiorally, it can be found on the doors, the middle console and around the cockpit. While looking at the cabin of the vehicle, this model includes a grab handle on the glovebox with the special G 63 4×4 engraving. This grab handle reminds customers that the manufacturing came directly from the G Manufaktur program. The previously mentioned Green Hell Magno paint option serves as a tribute to Nürburgring’s Nordschleife. This is in reference to the infamous Northern track, Nürburgring, the full Nordschleife racetrack is only used for selected racing events now. The Nürburgring track was first described as “the Green Hell” by Jackie Stewart. Jackie Stewart is one of the most successful Formula 1 champions in history, with more than 27 race wins and 3 championship wins. Sir. Stewart’s track record is impressive to say the least, and we are not just talking behind the wheel. Jackie Stewart helped introduce full-face helmets and seatbelts for drivers, assisted in developing the Grand Prix medical travel unit, and successfully campaigned for safety barriers and greater runoff areas on dangerous turns (which protects both the drivers and the attendants of the races.) He has recently created a foundation to strive to cure Dementia, a disease that is close to his heart. Sir. Stewart’s wife of 60 years, Helen, was diagnosed with Dementia in 2014, and they strive to find a cure together. *Jackie Stewart and his wife Helen at the new French Paul Ricard race track (France, 1972)* The “Green Hell” is chilling when hearing about the German track and its conditions when described in Stewart’s own words, “I won four times at the original Nurburgring in Germany – the most dangerous circuit in the world – and yet I was always afraid of that place. In 1968 I won there by over four minutes in thick fog and rain where you could hardly see the road. That race should never have been held, and having won it by such a big margin gave me more credibility when I demanded safety improvements.” Mercedes-Benz was searching for a paint name that helps convey the aggressiveness and lack of compromise that the 2023 Mercedes-Benz G 63 4×4 delivers, and the Green Hell Magno paint seemed perfectly fitting. Jackie Stewart was a rockstar both on and off the track, and served as an advocate on behalf of drivers and fans in the name of safety. Despite the backlash he received at the time, his worries and solutions clearly stemmed from his overt passion for the sport and its participants. In 2001, Jackie Stewart received a knighthood for all of his compassionate and life-changing contributions to the motorsports genre. It has been stated that this iconic vehicle is likely the “last of its kind” due to the expansion and push for electric-powered vehicles and their positive impact on the health of the Earth.
